Staying Positive in Times of Uncertainty
I have noticed a very curious thing about myself. Whenever I watch too much news about the virus, I feel sluggish and lethargic. Not only am I moving towards depression, but the weight of my body seems to increase. When I choose instead to work in my visual journal, read life-enhancing books, or create something to share with others, the lethargy lightens and with it, so does my mood and energy.
Safe at Home
It is such a strange and disorienting time in our world right now. As an online coach, I get to talk to women and men across the country and in a wide variety of industries. I know this is a very challenging time financially, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually for so many as we self-quarantine or are in a state with tight restrictions.
When our normal routines are disrupted, we may begin to notice ourselves and our team members behaving in stressful ways. We’re suddenly being seen in our homes, with our children in this mix, and stretched between trying to show up as a good leader/team member/employee and having to be realistic about our limitations. This tension can cause old unhealed emotional pain to come up, our core survival fears can be activated, and ineffectual communication can ignite all kinds challenges.
And while you are working through tight living spaces, or isolation, or fear, or grief, this time in human history is actually offering us the time and space to step up, lead with courage, deepen self-awareness, become more resilient, and see our own areas for healing.
Dr. David Hawkins, author of “17 Levels of Human Consciousness” found a way to connect our emotional states with our life view and level of consciousness. He discovered a tipping point in our energetic vibration where, our sense of personal power, at the level 200 on his scale. It is here that Hawkins says we see courage as the gateway to the higher levels.
Every emotion impacts the body. If the emotion goes below 200, the body will feel denser, heavier. Every emotion above 200, makes the body vital and more powerful.
In normal times, you may find that you usually resonate high on the scale. But now, with all that is going on in the world, you may find your energy levels fluctuating throughout the day.
The opportunity for us is to inquire into these states by noticing the kinds of thoughts you are having. What are your thoughts when you’re in the lower energy states? What are your thoughts when you’re in the higher energy states? What helps you to move through the lower energies without by-passing what you can learn about yourself?
